My work is comprised of different shapes and forms. Using these components I begin to play with different configurations, working with balance and repetition till I find something that just aesthetically feels right to me... Using electrode welding accentuates the seams giving them a scarred or altered effect, much like our process of learning and experiencing.
Studio and Exhibit Space is pleased to present the solo exhibition of new works
by Brownsville Artist, Denise Lecusay.“Saints and Sinners: An Allegorical Study” will run from January 25 –
February 12, 2016. The exhibition is the culmination of a two-year, deeply
introspective creative endeavor which explores the age-old dichotomy of sinners
and saints in a very modern perspective.Lecusay creates haunting diptych portraits of various saints in dark, secular
vignettes. “I have lost and gained a great deal and I wanted a body of work to
reflect the beauty within - the fire of a struggle”, explains the artist.
Reception will be held during Harlingen Art Night’s last Friday, January 29th
from 7 – 10 pm, with a special performance by Serpent Unknown Dance Group.
Please join us for this deeply personal, introspective exhibition.
